I was having dinner last night with someone, and we started talking about past relationships. We also started talking about what love looks like, and how each of us had missed the mark in the past. You can come close, you can think you have it, you can be happy. But if it isn’t real, if either of you aren’t all in, then it won’t work. No matter how hard you try.
And it got me thinking. About relationships.
You have to be all in.
You will laugh.
You will have fun.
You will support each other.
You will encourage each other to be better.
But you will argue and disagree.
You have to fight it out.
You don’t run away when it gets hard.
And it’s the same way with God. We have to be all in.
He has to be God in the good times.
He has to be God in the hard times.
He has to be God in the sad times.
He has to be God in the happy times.
He has to be God in the difficult moments.
He has to be God in the fun moments.
He has to be God all the time. In every moment. No matter what is happening. No matter what you are walking through. No matter how easy or tough things are.
We have to be all in. Fully surrendered. Totally faithful. Completely devoted.
Because He doesn’t change (Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8). No matter what is happening to us, He is the same God. Loving. Gracious. Faithful. Devoted. Caring. Good.
And we have to believe He is the same God.
We have to hold onto Him.
We have to trust Him.
We have to follow Him.
We have to surrender to Him.
We have to believe in His plans and purposes.
We have to hope for His best.
We have to know He is love.
All the time. No exceptions. No excuses. No matter what.
No matter what is happening in my life, He is God and He is good. How about you?
